Tell us about your professional career journey with Myxa?
My professional career with Myxa started in 2023, where I was hired for the position of Rostering and Intake Officer. My journey at Myxa working alongside colleague, Susana, and my co-ordinators Jasmine (present) and Ria (previous) has always been a fulfilling one!
Having experience in rostering previously, gaining knowledge in the NDIS sector and working alongside a great bunch of professionals has continued to teach me something new each day, and kept me on my toes!
Can you walk us through a typical day as Rostering & Intake Officer?
My day usually starts by:
-
Check emails and messages: Look for sick leave requests, last-minute absences, shift change requests.
-
Review shift coverage: Make sure all shifts are adequately staffed for the day and upcoming days/ work on coverage for any urgent shifts
Once I have settled in, I begin:
- Roster planning: Work on future rosters (weekly/monthly planning), taking into account staff availability, preferences, and business needs.
-
Data entry / system updates: Input leave requests, availability changes, and approvals.
-
Actioning Requests: Booking in any team meetings/ corresponding with Support Workers.
Afternoons usually finish up by starting to complete:
-
Final checks for next day: Confirm tomorrow’s shifts are covered.
-
Follow-ups: Respond to staff queries, update rosters based on any end-of-day changes.
-
Planning; Preparing for tomorrows busy day!

Can you share a specific instance where your work made a positive impact on Myxa or a participant?
With the hard work and collaboration between SIL Managers, House Supervisors and other management, rostering can make a huge difference in PPT life.
Creating stable and consistent rosters plays a crucial role in supporting the emotional well-being of participants (PPTs). When participants know who will be supporting them and when, it significantly reduces anxiety and promotes a sense of safety and predictability in their daily lives.
Carefully matching support workers (SWs) to participants—based on their skills, experience, communication style, and shared interests—helps build trusting relationships and strong support teams. These intentional pairings empower support workers to deliver care with confidence and competence, which directly benefits the quality of support participants receive.
Moreover, a balanced approach to rostering that considers the work-life needs of support workers helps foster a positive and sustainable workplace culture. By respecting boundaries, minimizing burnout, and acknowledging personal commitments, we create an environment where workers feel valued and supported. In turn, this encourages intentional, empathetic, and high-quality support for participants.
Myxa have been able to make a significant impact in the lives of both our PPT and their families, it has been amazing to be able to receive some of the below feedback:
“PPT and his family are so appreciative of the support your team have provided over the years.”- Care Team
“Have been extremely impressed with your excellent administrative skills”- PPT Family Member
“Just wanted to reiterate the fabulous work Myxa have done with PPT. So much care was put into developing the staffing roster and supporting her transition, we really appreciate all the collaborative work the team have done!”- Care Team
