We’re thrilled to introduce David, our newest member of the Myxa team, joining us as a Clinical Disability Support Worker.
A: My passion lies in support people with disabilities to achieve their full potential and live fulfilling lives. I was particularly impressed by Myxa’s commitment to participate choice and control. Empowering individuals and fostering their independence is central to my own care philosophy, and i believe Myxa’s approach create a truely supportive environment for participants to thrive.
A: Both DSW’s and DSW-C’s play crucial roles in supporting people with disabilities, but their areas of expertise differ slightly.
Disability Support Worker (DSW): DSWs provide a broad range of assistance with daily living tasks, such as personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and community access. They may also offer companionship and social support. The focus is on promoting independence and improving overall well-being.
Disability Support Worker- Clinical (DSW-C): DSW-Cs possess additional qualifications and experience in managing complex care needs. They might support individuals with intricate medical conditions, requiring specific medication administration or procedures. DSW-Cs often work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure participants receive comprehensive and coordinated care.
A: There are several things I truly love about my role at Myxa Care. First and foremost, it’s the opportunity to witness the incredible progress participants make. Seeing them gain confidence, develop new skills, and achieve their goals is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that I play a part in their journey is incredibly fulfilling.
Secondly, I appreciate Myxa’s strong emphasis on individualised care. Every participant is unique, and Myxa empowers us to tailor our support to their specific needs and preferences. This collaborative approach allows me to build genuine connections and create a truly supportive environment for each person I work with.
Finally, the team spirit at Myxa is fantastic. We have a shared passion for empowering individuals, and there’s a strong sense of support and collaboration amongst colleagues. I learn something new every day from the dedicated professionals around me, which allows me to continuously improve my skills and become a better carer.
A: I am grateful that i am able to assist so many participants every day. I particularly remember a fulfilling moment, when i was able to provide one participant some pain medication that provided her so much relief. We then spent some time arranging her medication pill box for the next 30 days, which she was so thankful for having assistance with. It brought a smile to my face.
