Amber started her journey within the disability sector after being diagnosed at an early age with a disability that affects her mobility. Amber was told that due to her disability she would have very few opportunities to live a normal and fulfilling life. However, Amber has never been one to accept that things can’t change and that people can’t always live their best life! As such Amber has spent her entire career in the disability sector trying to help people with a disability achieve their dreams and goals and live the life they choose! Amber strongly believes that all anyone needs is the right support!
Amber started her journey by volunteering in a day program, supporting people with psychosocial disabilities. This led to employment in a range of different areas and roles, including, disability employment services, Australian disability enterprise, complex care coordination, managing an extremely busy after-hours emergency service for a national care provider, regional manager for a large care provider overseeing in-home and community care, occupational therapy and planned activity groups.
In 2017, Amber joined the NDIS as a senior planner where she supported thousands of participants to get the supports they needed. She was a subject matter expert in many things, such as assistive technology, home modifications and disability-related health supports. Myxa is Amber’s new adventure. Since joining us in January 2022, Amber has poured her 28 years of experience, knowledge and passion into making sure Myxa lives up to its promises by providing our participants with opportunities to achieve their goals and live a full life.
