Meet Deane, one of our amazing House Supervisors in Eastern Melbourne.
Deane joined the Myxa team in July of 2024 and has been a valuable asset ever since. Deane always goes above and beyond to ensure all participants are receiving the tailored support required, and for that, we are so grateful.
I’ve been doing it since July this year
Helping the participants in their day-to-day activities.
A typical day would be me coming on a shift, receiving handover from previous staff, looking over notes from the day before or the night before, depending what shift I’m working, and then look at the guys schedule for the day and then getting guys prepared for the day and getting them off to programs if need be or supporting them while they’re in the house.

One of the participants we have in the house has autism and used to find it very hard to get in the shower and look after himself, personal care wise.
And we’ve gradually got him into the shower and showering every second day, which is fantastic.
And just getting him to clean his room and stuff like that.
These are things that weren’t a part of his routine at all before he moved into the house, and helping him create a good routine for himself and looking after himself personal care wise, health wise, all sorts of things.
So that would be one of the big positive things that’s happened since I’ve been a supervisor
12 months now.
I love the people that work in the house and the management that I have met.
I haven’t met everyone, but everyone’s been really nice, really welcoming and really great with communication, so I don’t feel like I’m ever out of the loop with anything which is fantastic.
