Tell us about your professional career journey with Myxa?
My journey at Myxa started as a House Supervisor. It was a great way to gain experience working directly with participants and understanding their needs. Through that experience, I was able to develop my leadership skills and build strong relationships with the team. Seeing the positive impact we have on participants’ lives every day motivated me to pursue further opportunities within Myxa.
Can you walk us through a typical day as a SIL Manager?
Ha! There really isn’t a typical day as a SIL Manager! My role is very dynamic, and I enjoy that variety, though some common tasks involve:
- Supporting the team: I check in with staff members, address any challenges they’re facing, and ensure they have the resources they need to provide excellent support.
- Participant check-ins: I regularly connect with participants to monitor their well-being, address any concerns, and ensure their NDIS plans are being met.
- Collaboration: I work closely with allied health teams, families, and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to supporting participants.
- Reviewing and planning: I analyse data and reports to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance the quality of our services.
What do you love about working at Myxa?
There are so many things! At Myxa, the focus is truly on empowering participants to live fulfilling and independent lives. I am passionate about this mission, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact we have. I also love the supportive and collaborative work environment at Myxa. We have a great team, and everyone is dedicated to making a difference.
Can you share a specific instance where your work made a positive impact on Myxa or a participant?
One of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had was working with a participant who was struggling with social isolation. Through collaboration with the participant’s support team and family, we developed a plan to connect them with local community activities and social groups. Seeing the participant blossom and build meaningful relationships was truly heartwarming. It’s moments like these that make my work so worthwhile.
