Our Approach

We see support not as a temporary intervention but as a pathway to lasting change.

Every action we take is intentional; designed to foster autonomy, build capacity, and strengthen emotional and social wellbeing.

Through structure, consistency, and compassion, we help participants to:

  • Develop daily living skills and positive routines
  • Build emotional resilience and self-confidence
  • Strengthen communication and social participation
  • Increase independence and community engagement

At Myxa, success is measured by the quality of life each participant builds – not simply by the hours of support provided.

Who We Support

We provide tailored disability support for a wide range of individuals, including:

  • People with physical, intellectual, or psychosocial disabilities, including dual diagnoses
  • Participants requiring standard and high-intensity or 24-hour supports such as 1:1 or 2:1 staffing
  • Individuals with complex behavioural or medical needs, including those who display behaviours of concern
  • Children, youth, and adults supported under Child Protection, DFFH, or DHHS programs
  • Individuals who require structured supports, comprehensive documentation, or formal reporting within regulated care
frameworks, including those under forensic or justice department oversight, where specialised reporting and compliance are essential.
How We Deliver High-Quality, Risk-Managed Support

Collaboration with the Care Team

We work in close partnership with each participant’s wider care team, including Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Support Coordinators, Guardians, Plan Nominees, and family members.
This collaborative approach ensures that every recommendation, therapeutic goal, and daily strategy is implemented consistently, translating professional guidance into real, measurable progress in everyday life.

How We Deliver High-Quality, Risk-Managed Support

Developing Comprehensive, Proportionate Support Plan

Every person’s needs are unique, and their support plan should reflect the nature and intensity of the support required. Myxa develops detailed, individualised plans that are proportionate to each participant’s specific care context and goals.

For example, a participant who requires the support of two workers to implement behaviour strategies and therapeutic interventions will have a plan structured around proactive engagement, behaviour monitoring, and collaboration with allied health practitioners.
In contrast, a participant who requires two staff to assist with physical transfers, manual handling, or the operation of medical equipment such as a ventilator will have a plan focused on safety procedures, health monitoring, and physical care protocols.

By tailoring plans in this way, Myxa ensures that supports are delivered safely, effectively, and appropriately — matching the type and level of care to each participant’s individual needs and circumstances.

How We Deliver High-Quality, Risk-Managed Support

Safety and Behaviour Support Planning

Safety is a cornerstone of every service we provide. Myxa works closely with Behaviour Support Practitioners (add link to BSP page), allied health professionals, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive safety and behaviour support protocols.

These protocols outline proactive and responsive strategies to manage a range of conditions and situations, ensuring staff can identify early warning signs, apply effective de-escalation techniques, and respond confidently and safely.

Our goal is to create predictability and trust, protecting participants, families, staff, and the wider community.

How We Deliver High-Quality, Risk-Managed Support

Facilitating Community Integration

Community inclusion is at the heart of our work. Myxa collaborates with participants, allied health teams, support coordinators, families, and guardians to build the skills, confidence, and social connections needed for meaningful community life.

We focus on each person’s strengths and goals, supporting them to participate in community activities, develop independence, and enjoy a sense of belonging and purpose.

Matching the Right Worker to the Right Person

We understand that genuine progress begins with genuine connection.

That’s why Myxa takes great care in matching participants with the right support workers, considering:

  • Personality compatibility and communication style
  • Cultural background, gender, and age preferences
  • Shared interests or hobbies that help build rapport
  • Specific experience and qualifications relevant to clinical, behavioural, or high-intensity (add link to HIS page), needs

This careful matching process ensures that participants feel safe, respected, and understood – creating strong, trusting relationships from the very first shift.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Myxa values diversity and understands that language and cultural connection enhance trust and quality of care.

Where possible, we will match participants with a Support Worker who speaks their preferred language or understands their cultural background. If that’s not immediately possible, we may engage interpreters or recruit accordingly to ensure clear and respectful communication.

If you’re passionate about making a difference, you can join our growing team.

• Visit our Careers Page to view current vacancies.

All applicants undergo a structured screening and onboarding process, ensuring alignment with Myxa’s values and quality standards.

Our Support Workers are compassionate professionals who combine skill, empathy, and reliability. Each team member undergoes comprehensive screening, training, and supervision to ensure they meet both NDIS Quality and Safeguards requirements and Myxa’s internal standards of excellence. In addition to these checks, we also complete a thorough reference check on every employee before they join the team.

All Myxa staff complete:

NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC)

• Current First Aid & CPR Certification

Working with Children Check (if applicable)

• Mandatory training in Manual Handling, Infection Control, and Incident Reporting

• Myxa’s Induction on NDIS Practice Standards, participant rights, and the 3Rs values framework

Preferred qualifications include a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) as a minimum requirement, although we aim to hire people with the right qualifications to match the specific support needs of each participant.

For example, when supporting someone with complex behaviour, we prioritise candidates who have psychological education and training over qualifications in hoist usage, ensuring our staff are equipped with the expertise most relevant to the role. We encourage ongoing professional development to maintain the highest standards of care.
