What Core Support Covers

Core Support (formerly Disability Support Work (DSW)) covers in-home and community support funded under your NDIS plan. It includes daily living tasks, community participation, and skill-building, delivered by trained Core Support Workers who implement your Support Plan. If you previously worked with Myxa under our Disability Support Work (DSW) service, Core Support is the same service under its current name.

Personal and Daily Living Support

Personal and Daily Living Support

Showering, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, household tasks, delivered according to your Support Plan and your preferences. All personal support respects your cultural considerations and is consistent across every shift.
Community Participation

Community Participation

Access to social activities, appointments, community groups, education, and employment. Transport and community navigation included. Core Support Workers work with you to access the activities and places that matter to you.
Skill Building

Skill Building

Routines, communication, social skills, and daily living independence, at whatever pace works for you. Skill building is woven into support, not treated as a separate activity.
High Intensity Support

High Intensity Support

How Core Support Works at Myxa

Referral Received

Referral Received

01
A Support Coordinator, family member, or participant submits a referral. We confirm capacity quickly and provide a clear answer on whether we can proceed. If we can support the participant, we move forward. If we cannot, we tell you directly so you can explore other options without losing time.
We Learn About the Participant

We Learn About the Participant

02
An intake conversation covers support needs, goals, preferences, and complexity level. We take the time to understand what matters before a team is confirmed. This shapes everything that follows, from team matching to Support Plan development.
Team Matching

Team Matching

03
Our Centralised Rostering Team matches Core Support Workers based on skill, experience, and compatibility with the participant. Cultural and language matching is available where relevant. The aim is to build a consistent, familiar team around the participant.
Support Plan Developed

Support Plan Developed

04
Together with the participant and their support network, we build a Support Plan that guides every shift. The Plan captures goals, preferences, routines, and any specific approaches required. It is the working document behind every interaction.
Ongoing Oversight

Ongoing Oversight

05
The Core Support Manager monitors consistency, addresses issues early, and keeps the Support Coordinator informed. Support does not run on autopilot between reviews. Management support extends beyond business hours for participants with complex support needs.

What Sets Myxa Core Support Apart

Four structural features that shape how every Core Support service at Myxa operates, regardless of intensity level or complexity.

Centralised Rostering

Centralised Rostering

01

Staffing consistency is one of the most important factors in effective disability support. Myxa uses a dedicated Centralised Rostering Team to match participants with the right Core Support Workers based on skill, experience, and compatibility, then keeps that team consistent.

  • Same familiar workers who know your routines
  • Strategic matching to participant needs and complexity
  • Reliable scheduling, not last-minute gap filling
Core Support Manager

Core Support Manager

02

Every Myxa Core Support service sits under a dedicated Core Support Manager who monitors staffing, shift consistency, and participant progress. Support Coordinators have one accountable point of contact, and participants do not fall through the cracks between reviews.

  • Escalation point for shift issues and participant changes
  • Coordination with allied health professionals
  • Management support beyond business hours for complex needs
Staff Training and Capability

Staff Training and Capability

03

Core Support Workers receive thorough induction, participant-specific training, and ongoing professional supervision. Workers supporting participants with behaviours of concern receive specialist training in Ethical Response and behaviour support strategies, and have access to experienced management guidance during complex situations.

  • Trauma-informed approaches
  • Medication administration where required
  • Specialist health management procedures
The Myxa Framework

The Myxa Framework

04

The Myxa Framework applies to every Core Support service regardless of intensity level: centralised rostering, Support Plan development, data recording, escalation protocols, incident management, and regular reviews. The same standards apply whether you receive a few hours per week or intensive daily support.

  • Operating structure behind every service
  • Consistent standards across all participants

Standard and High Intensity Core Support

Myxa provides Core Support at both standard and high intensity levels. Whether a participant needs a few hours of support per week or intensive daily assistance, our systems and oversight are consistent across both levels.

Standard

Standard Core Support

01

For participants whose support needs do not require specialist high intensity funding. All the same Framework standards apply: consistent staffing, Support Plan implementation, data recording, and management oversight.

  • Quality standards applied to all services
  • Consistent Core Support Workers matched through centralised rostering
  • Support Plan developed and implemented from day one
  • Data recording and regular reviews
  • Flexible hours based on NDIS funding and goals

For Support Coordinators

  • A dedicated Core Support Manager as your direct point of contact
  • Clear escalation and regular communication across the service
  • Support for participants with high intensity needs, behaviours of concern, or past support breakdowns

If you have a participant with complex support needs, get in touch and we will work through next steps with you.

For Participants

02

If you are looking into Core Support for yourself, you are in the right place. You do not need a Support Coordinator to contact us directly.

  • Workers matched to your support needs, preferences, and where relevant, your cultural and language background
  • A consistent, familiar team rather than a different face every shift
  • A Core Support Manager you can contact if something is not working
  • Support delivered the way you want it, documented properly, and reviewed regularly

Before we start, we take time to understand your goals, preferences, and what matters to you day to day. Your Support Plan is built around your life, not a generic template.
